Introduction to Chiropractic Health from our Davenport office

Our musculoskeletal system (also known as MSK) is comprised of muscles, bones and joints. This system makes it possible for us to stand up, move, and keeps us strong during our lifetime.

When our MSK system is injured or ages, it can be a source of pain. The most common pain associated with it is lower back pain. This is the main cause for disability worldwide. Our chiropractic care in Davenport helps you take the steps to improve your musculoskeletal system and live healthier and with less pain.

During National Chiropractic Health Month 2019, the American Chiropractic Association (ACA) and its members are focusing on how chiropractic health leads to strength, stability and a successful active life. Our teams across Central Florida and Orlando will be supporting this and open to any questions you may have.

Chiropractic Data

Almost 8 in 10 Americans suffer lower back pain at some point in their lives. This type of pain can lead to lower productivity and quality of life affecting not only your lifestyle but even your capacity to earn money. The common solution are opioids and other medicines. However, chiropractic methods can often give better results through alternative methods.

Supporting Chiropractic health can help the US economy. Lower back pain represents a $100 billion loss on the economy each year. This is mostly because of lost wages and lower production.

History of chiropractic health in the US

  • In 1895, D.D. Palmer performed the first recorded chiropractic adjustment on a person who had lost hearing after experiencing back pain and who improved the hearing after.
  • In 1897, D.D. Palmer established the Palmer School of Care in Davenport, Iowa, known today as Palmer College of Chiropractic which was the first chiropractic school in the US.
  • In 1913, chiropractic care received official recognition with the first state license law. And within 25 years, 39 states recognized it as a healthcare option.
