Don Knight Park At Lake Golden, located in Sanford, FL, was officially given the namesake in October of 2005. It was named to commemorate the life of Charles Donald Knight, who had passed earlier that year. Don was an aviator and flight instructor. He was also the owner of a local shoe store that specialized in difficult-to-find shoes. He was loved by many in Sanford and was often referred to as “Mr. Downtown Sanford, which was a title that he was very proud of.
Don Knight Park is a place where many local events are held. It is a place where you can go to enjoy beautiful views of Golden Lake, since the park is located right at the water’s edge. There is a covered pavilion at the park with lots of picnic tables and seating for parties and social gatherings. There is a barbecue grill and lots more. There are restrooms for the public which are well maintained and clean. There is also a large dancefloor and a stage, which is useful for performances, live music, wedding receptions and many other outdoor events and activities.
There is no playground equipment as this park is private and is meant to be rented for events such as family reunions, rallies, community events and such. With that said, there is plenty of room for kids to stretch their legs and run, play ball, throw frisbees, and so on. Another great feature of the park is that there is a pretty decent amount of parking.
